When your account is closed we remove your stored payment information, but under Australian law some records must be kept for 7 years. This article explains what happens when an account is closed and what we keep.
What happens when your account is closed
- Your account is closed and your stored payment information is removed.
- Servers must be cancelled before the account can be closed. A cancelled server is deleted together with its additional IP addresses, disks and backups.
To find out how to close your account, see Can I close my account?
What we keep, and for how long
Under Australian law we keep your account details, including your email address, along with your payment history and invoices, for 7 years in case the Australian Taxation Office needs them for an audit. These records are not deleted before then.
