BinaryLane requires a one-time password (OTP) for sign-ins when two-factor authentication (2FA) is not enabled. To strengthen security and simplify access management, users can utilise password managers with built-in OTP functionality for seamless authentication. Many password managers support multi-user sign-ins, enabling secure OTP sharing with team members while retaining control over access permissions and audit logs.
Setting Up a Password Manager with OTPs for BinaryLane
Enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) on Your BinaryLane Account
Follow the Two-Factor Authentication guide- During 2FA setup, BinaryLane will generate a QR code and a 16-character secret key.
- Instead of scanning the QR code with your typical password management app (like Google Authenticator), enter the secret key (or scan the QR code if possible) into a password manager that supports OTPs:
- Use KeePassXC for OTP Management: Store the OTP secret key in a KeePassXC database (.kdbx) and enable TOTP generation. By hosting the database on a shared network drive or a self-hosted server, multiple users with access to the database and the master password can generate OTPs as needed.
