BinaryLane requires a one-time password (OTP) for sign-ins when two-factor authentication (2FA) is not enabled. To strengthen security and simplify access management, users can utilise password managers with built-in OTP functionality for seamless authentication. Many password managers support multi-user sign-ins, enabling secure OTP sharing with team members while retaining control over access permissions and audit logs.

Setting Up a Password Manager with OTPs for BinaryLane

  1. Enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) on Your BinaryLane Account

    Follow the Two-Factor Authentication guide

  2. During 2FA setup, BinaryLane will generate a QR code and a 16-character secret key.

  3. Instead of scanning the QR code with your typical password management app (like Google Authenticator), enter the secret key (or scan the QR code if possible) into a password manager that supports OTPs:

  4. Once added, your password manager will generate OTPs alongside your stored credentials.

When logging in to BinaryLane, your password manager should now autofill both your password and OTP, eliminating the need for manual input.

Important: Once 2FA is enabled, you will no longer receive OTPs via email. Instead, you must use the authenticator app or password manager to generate your OTPs.
