New cPanel servers do not have any cPanel accounts on them to start with. If you have recently purchased a cPanel VPS subscription, you'll first need to log into WHM (the administrative back-end interface) to complete the initial setup assistant.
Finding Your Login URLs
cPanel and WHM use HTTPS on specific ports:
- WHM: Port 2087 (e.g.
https://your-server:2087) - cPanel: Port 2083 (e.g.
https://your-server:2083)
To find your server's URL, use the permalink address shown in mPanel. For example, if your permalink is banjo-phrase.bnr.la, your login URLs would be:
- WHM:
https://banjo-phrase.bnr.la:2087 - cPanel:
https://banjo-phrase.bnr.la:2083

Login Credentials
For WHM, use your VPS root username and password — not your mPanel login details.
For cPanel, use the credentials for a cPanel account you've created in WHM.
One-Time Login URL
You can also generate a one-time login URL from mPanel, which allows you to access WHM without entering credentials. This is useful for initial setup or if you're having trouble with your password.
Forgot Your Root Password?
If you've forgotten the root password for your cPanel server, you can reset it via mPanel:
- Navigate to your server in mPanel
- Click the Settings icon (cog)
- Go to Recovery > Change/Reset Password
SSL Certificate Warning
Your browser may show an SSL certificate warning when first accessing WHM. This is normal for new servers — proceed past the warning to access the login page.
This warning is usually temporary. WHM/cPanel will automatically install a CA-signed SSL certificate via AutoSSL within a day or two of server creation.
Next Steps
- Log into WHM and complete the initial setup assistant
- Create your first cPanel account in WHM
- Access cPanel using the account credentials you created
