SQL Server Express is limited to the lesser of one CPU socket or four CPU cores. On some Linux VPS configurations, each allocated vCPU can be presented as a separate CPU socket. This can cause SQL Server Express to use fewer vCPUs than expected.
BinaryLane can change the virtual CPU topology so the VPS presents its allocated vCPUs as CPU cores within one socket. This does not add CPU capacity, but may allow SQL Server Express to use the allocated vCPUs within its edition limit.
