Note that this update will be deployed to cPanel VPS automatically if you are using the default automatic update settings.

We are aware of an issue affecting some CentOS and WHM installations that prevents network access on boot.  The issue is described in more detail of the cPanel forums but the high-level summary is that when the latest CentOS 7.6 update is installed it may enable a security feature called SElinux.

Depending on the server's exactly configuration you may see the message "Failed to load SELinux policy, freezing." and the boot process stops; or the server may boot slower than normal and be inaccessible on the internet.

If you are affected by this issue, we have added a one-click solution to mPanel:

  1. Go to https://www.binarylane.com.au/mpanel/disable-selinux
  2. Click "Disable SELinux" and wait for the process to complete. (If you are prompted to "Force Shutdown", do so)
  3. Confirm that your server is network accessible again.

If your server remains inacessible after utilising this feature, then your server's fault is not related to SELinux and you should proceed with standard troubleshooting procedure.
